The competing athletes of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) welcomed the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 80 through the annual Kick-Off Party last September 7, Thursday, at the University’s Quadricentennial Pavilion.

The party, which was organized and hosted by the Office of the Alumni Relations (OAR), served as a fund-raising activity of the athletes for the season.

The program started with a Eucharistic Celebration and a parade of the participating teams of the University, respectively.

The players graced the dance floor with their performances, and also participated with the parlor games hosted by the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) office.

Fr. Jannel M. Abogado O.P., DTPS, the IPEA director, wished, in his opening remarks, the athletes a harmonious celebration towards their journey this UAAP season.

The Track and Field team bagged the “Most Disciplined and Organized Team,” the “Earliest Complete Team,” and the “Best Team Shirt” awards; while the Men’s Football team and the Taekwondo team received the “Best Team Performance” and the “Best Dance Performance,” consequently.

The athletes, moreover, hope for the same support this year from the whole Thomasian community.

The masters of ceremonies were Gerard Dinglas of Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) and Tonie Moreno, the UAAP Season 80 courtside reporter of the University. KATE REYES
