UST posts higher passing rates in November 2017 civil, chemical eng’g board exams
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) attained higher passing rates in the November 2017 licensure examinations for civil engineers and chemical engineers, placing the university in the lists of top-performing schools for both examinations.
In the civil engineer board exams, UST ranked fourth in the top performing schools, scoring 86.88 percent, or 192 passing out of 221 examinees, data from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) showed. This is higher than last year’s rate of 85.98 percent, or 184 passing out of 214 examinees.
Christian Gonzales led the new batch of Thomasian civil engineers with a score of 95.20 percent, placing ninth among the topnotchers.
University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman graduate Nikho Lawrence Corres topped the exams with a score of 97.90 percent.
The national passing rate rose to 48.81 percent (6,075 passing out of 12,447 examinees) from last year’s 45.90 percent (5,036 passing out of 10,972 examinees).
Results for the chemical engineer board exams showed a significantly higher record for UST, boosting to 80.17 percent, with 97 passing out of 121 examinees, earning its spot as the third top performing school. This is higher than last year’s rate of 66.14 percent or 84 passing out of 127 examinees.
John Rave Magalang led the new roster of Thomasian chemical engineers with a score of 83.70 percent, ranking third in the topnotchers list.
John Cyril Claur of University of Saint La Salle and Jared Philip Condez of UP Visayas in Iloilo City shared the top spot in the board exams with a score of 84.60 percent.
UP Diliman is named top-performing school for both examinations, earning a score of 97.41 percent (113 passing out of 116 examinees) for the civil engineering board exams and a record of 98.77 percent (80 passing out of 81 examinees) for the chemical engineering board exams.
The national passing rate for the chemical engineering board examinations boosted to 66.56 percent (627 passing out of 942 examinees) from last year’s 58.17 percent (534 passing out of 918 examinees). DANEA PATRICIA VILOG
