Blue Eagles pummel Soaring Falcons

Ateneo Blue Eagles won over Adamson Soaring Falcons in the opening day of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament, 85-65, last Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

The Katipunan-based squad took a wire-to-wire win after leading every quarter by at least nine points.

Combo guard Thirdy Ravena led the way for Ateneo with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jolo Mendoza chipped in 14 markers.

Rookies Kurt Loreja and Keith Zaldivar combined for 21 points in a losing effort for the Falcons.

The Soaring Falcons was missing import Papi Sarr due to a groin injury, which led to the advantage of his counterpart in the opposing team: Chibueze Ikeh dominating with a monster 18 points and 17 rebounds.

NU Bulldogs trumped the UE Red Warriors in the first game of the season, 86-69.

Ateneo Blue Eagles will next play against the UP Fighting Maroons on September 13, Wednesday, while the Adamson Soaring Falcons will match up against UST Growling Tigers on September 16, Saturday, at the Big Dome.
