The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws cruised past the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors, 90-83, achieving their first win of the season, on Wednesday, September 13, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Red Warriors tried to put a fightback in the final quarter but Ron Dennison was there to steady the ship for the Tamaraws when he went on a personal 6-0 run.
The Morayta-based squad started the game clicking on all cylinders, leaving UE behind, 28-11, at the end of the first period.
New FEU Head coach Olsen Racela garnered his first UAAP win.
“Yun talaga ang in-address namin, last game kasi kinailangan pa naming maghabol,” Racela said on how FEU was able to set the tone, dominating the Warriors from the start.
Team Captain Ron Marvin Dennison and import Prince Orizu led the Tamaraws, posting 16 points and 15 points, respectively, and bringing them back to .500 with a 1-1 record.
The Recto-based squad dropped to 0-2, despite Clark Derige and Alvin Pasaol posting 22 points and 11 points, respectively.
