Crisis of Human Rights
CREATED under the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines, The Commission on Human rights (CHR) has led the charge in investigating all forms of human rights violations in the Philippines to this day. Now faced with the biggest challenge in its history, the commission has the attention of the entire country, awaiting its fate.
Initially, the requested budget by the CHR to Congress was reportedly P649.48 million, but the request did not come to pass. Now a severe budget count of a measly P1,000 budget is to be to be allocated for the CHR for the entirety of 2018.
Following the recent landslide of voter turnout of the House of Representatives, with a tally of 119 in favor of the extreme budget cut and 32 against, the Dapitan Post took to the streets to gather the opinions of various citizens and provide an overview of how Filipinos feel about this decision.
