AdU Soaring Falcons tame NU Bulldogs

The Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons trumped the National University (NU) Bulldogs, 83-76, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 men’s basketball tournament, Sunday at the Mall of Asia arena in Pasay City.
Adamson played their best game of the season with four players scoring in double figures.
Adamson used their pressure defense and quick offense in the first half to dominate the game right from the get go.
The Soaring Falcons used a 16-2 run to end the 2nd canto, punctuated by a buzzer-beating trifecta by surprise starter Jonathan Espeleta.
Papi Sarr paced the Falcons with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jonathan Espeleta also scored in twin digits with 13 markers each.
Former UAAP juniors MVP Jerie Pingoy continues to be a defensive nightmare for opponents as he got six steals today, he has recorded 17 steals in four games, most in the UAAP.
Shooting guard Jayjay Alejandro was the lone bright spot for the Bulldogs, stuffing the stat sheet with 25 points, seven caroms, and four assists.
Adamson and NU are now tied with a 2-2 card, good for fourth and fifth spot.
The FEU Tamaraws is up next for NU, on September 27 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, while Adamson will face the UE Red Warriors on October 1 at the same venue.
