FEU Tamaraws ram UST Growling Tigers

The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws cruised past the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, 78-65, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 Men’s Basketball tournament on Saturday at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena, Pasay City.

The Growling Tigers had a good start, leading the first two quarters of the game, until the Tamaraws bulldozed their way into the lead with an 18-3 blitz to start the fourth canto.

Thanks to Arvin Tolentino and Ken Tuffin’s three-point shots during the third period, the Tamaraws took the lead at the end of third, 49-48.

The Tigers committed 24 turnovers which the Tamaraws capitalized, scoring 30 points out of those turnovers.

Ron Dennison led the Morayta-based team with 15 points on a 50% shooting, four rebounds, two assists against three turnovers.

Center Jeepy Faundo paced the struggling Tigers with a double-double of 16 markers and 11 caroms.

FEU set their record back to .500 at 2-2, while UST remained at the cellar with a 0-4 card.

On September 27, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Tamaraws will go head-to-head with the

National University (NU) Bulldogs at 2pm and the Growling Tigers will face the Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles at 4pm. DENNIEL DIONEO
