The Far Eastern University (FEU) snatched its second straight win after defeating the National University (NU) Bulldogs, 90-83, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 Men’s Basketball tournament, on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Midway through the 4th quarter, Tamaraws were leading by 12 when Nico Abatayo sparked a 9-2 run for the Bulldogs to trim the deficit to five, but FEU center Arvin Tolentino was there to deny NU a comeback coming up clutch in the endgame.

Tamaraw Wendell Comboy waxed hot from behind the arc in the first half sinking three of his six attempts for nine points to lead at halftime, 48-41.

FEU bench proved to be a thorn for NU after scoring 54 points against NU bench’s 33.

Arvin Tolentino played his best game for the Tamaraws top scoring with a career-high 23 points, while Axel Iñigo delivered 12 markers with 10 of it coming in the 3rd period.

Bulldogs Captain Jayjay Alejandro once again stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, five boards, four dimes, two steals in game-high 35 minutes.

The Tamaraws claimed solo fourth in the overall standing with a 3-2 record, while the Bulldogs stand sixth with a 2-3 card.

NU will fight against the leading Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles next Saturday, September 30 at the Big Dome, while FEU is set to battle against the University of the Philippines (UP) next Sunday, at the same venue.
