DLSU Green Archers clobber AdU Soaring Falcons

The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers triumphed against the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons, 80-74, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 Men’s Basketball tournament on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Green Archers unleashed a game-clinching 9-2 run in the last two minutes of the payoff period to turn a one point deficit into a six point win.

The San Marcelino-based team started hot, ending the first frame ahead, 17-13.

La Salle won the battle of the boards, 50-37, with Ben Mbala grabbing 17 rebounds, five of which came from the offensive end.

DLSU rising star Ricci Rivero registered 17 points, while Mbala added 15 markers and five blocks.

Jerrick Ahanmisi and Papi Sarr collected 17 points apiece, with Sarr collaring 12 caroms.

The Taft-based squad produced 14 points off the 15 miscues of Adamson.

DLSU took firm grip of the second seed, now with an 8-2 slate. Adamson fell to 6-4.

The Green Archers will next face the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors on October 25, at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the AdU Soaring Falcons will next confront the still winless University of Santo Tomas on the same date at the same venue. DENNIEL DIONEO
