Adamson squeaks past UST

The Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons kept the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers winless, 75-70, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia arena.
Adamson rising star Jerrick Ahanmisi had ice in his veins, scoring 11 of the last 13 Falcons points in the game to seal the victory.
Growling Tigers came close to earning their first win of the season after battling the Falcons toe-to-toe in a game which featured seven deadlocks and 16 lead changes.
The España-based squad banked on a strong showing from skipper Jordan Sta. Ana in the third frame scoring all of his seven markers, leading at the end of third, 49-48.
Ahanmisi delivered 21 points on a 6/14 shooting clip for the Falcons, while Papi Sarr added a double-double of 12-14.
Regie Boy Basibas paced the Tigers with 17 markers and five rebounds. Steve Akomo added 10 points and 17 boards.
AdU improved to 7-4 while UST fell to 0-11.
The Falcons will next face the lowly NU Bulldogs, while the Tigers will try to get its first win against the defending champions DLSU Green Archers on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Mall of Asia arena.
