FROM a five-year-old kid who once dreamt of singing in hotels to finally attending formal voice trainings, Moira Lacambra is now slaying stage performances around the country–singing her way to stardom despite the voice cracks universe throws at her.

Moira Margueret Lacambra, an 18-year-old artist at Ivory Music & Video, has grown attached to the art of music and singing throughout time, developing her love and passion toward the craft.

The journey she took in order to be where she is now was not always smooth; she exerted great amount of effort to achieve her goals. Like other artists, she also had to sacrifice lots of ‘me time’ for voice trainings in order to improve her own style when it comes to singing and performing.

“There [were] a lot of times [when] I needed to sacrifice time in school and […] sleep just to rehearse. There were also times [when] I exchange[d] […] hanging out with friends [with] sleep just for me to have enough rest for my voice,” she said in an online interview with Dapitan Post.

She added that the journey also required a tough heart as she had encountered obstacles and people who would drag her down.

Despite these, she continued to be optimistic, for these sacrifices and obstacles paved the way for her growth as a singer.

“For me, a dream won’t be reached unless you start working on it with a strong heart. That’s why I’ve stayed tough when it comes to difficulties ‘cause I know this is just part of the journey of me becoming successful on my chosen craft,” she added.

Considering all the negativity she had been through, she has continued to sing her heart out for the people who believe in her.

“What keeps me going are the people who believes in me and those who push me down. I have been through a lot already and with those experiences, I have learned to be wise enough to just let all the negativity pass and to let the positive vibes […] in me,” she said.

Although she already had more than ten years of experience in singing, she still felt a sense of self-doubt. She believes that she still has a lot to improve on herself for her own benefit and of course, for her audience.

“I can say that I still get nervous […]. I look up to many singers like Morissette Amon, Kz Tandingan and a lot more. I’ve heard their stories and compared [them] to mine; […] I realized that I’m still not as passionate and determined as them. I think [that] is the factor that I need to improve [on] – […] being hungry in reaching success […],” she said.

Notwithstanding the things she need to improve on, her belief that she has something unique to show to the world full of competition in show business helps her slay her performances. Moira sees to it that she gives her best every time she performs to make those who believe in her happy.

“I have something special in me that can make myself stand out that’s why […] I do my 100% best everytime I perform to make those people who believe in me happy,” she said.

Aside from singing and performing on stage, Moira was recently given her first acting project titled “Ang Kwento ni Money,” which might be the start of other project offers that would further help her grow as an artist.

“Just keep going if you really want [something]. Challenges will always be a part of our lives, negativities are considered challenges. […] Never let anyone look down on you. […] You should always be ready to accept criticisms; never feel bad about it, learn from the words and make yourself better day by day,” the teenage performer advised dreamers like her.

With the heart she gave to music, singing and the years of dedication she put into improving herself to make her dreams come true, Moira Lacambra is now making her own name in the showbiz industry, proving that she has something special within her.
