The clock struck to three--the streets in a subdivision in Laguna were filled with folks dressed as superficial creatures. Everyone exerted their effort to flaunt their costume as the creepiest or the cutest being in town last Oct. 29.
Annually, Filinvest South celebrates Halloween through a trick-or-treat event. It is one of the anticipated events in the village, the time where kids, grown-ups and even pets–you name it!--wear their best Halloween costumes as they walk around the village to collect candies from the neighborhood.

“Trick or Treat festivities is an annual event being celebrated at Filinvest South primarily to give some fun to neighborhoods’ children and guests,” Noel Salandanaan, the president of Filinvest South Homeowners, told Dapitan Post in an online interview.
The residents of Biñan City’s fine subdivision welcomed the trick-or-treaters with their Halloween-decorated homes. Every homeowner adorned their house with eerie decorations – skulls, cobweb and white lady - that would either put you in shock or entice you.

The treats in the village were not just mere candies and chocolates–free cotton candies, ice cream, taho, popcorns and street foods were also shared to the Halloween event participants.

Every year, they anticipate approximately 500 trick-or-treaters, Nerier Melito, a security guard in the village told Dapitan Post.
“The affair gives the resident homeowners a chance to show our children the spirit of sharing the blessings by giving them some candies,” Salandanan explained.
The event is not just about fun, its goal is to initiate the “spirit of sharing” in the community.
“Not to mention the spirit of camaraderie by joining in the preparation of the event by way of displaying Halloween ornaments,” he added.
