Thomasians dominate 2017 CPA boards top 10


A Thomasian claimed the top spot while six more were placed in the list of topnotchers for this year’s licensure examination for Certified Public Accountants (CPA). Alfonso Solomon Magno ranked first with a score of 91.33 percent, leading the new roster of 333 licensed Thomasian CPAs. After Magno, Ray Jay Dizon ranked fourth, garnering a score of 90.67 percent, followed by Alvin Thomas Endaya who ranked seventh with a score of 90.00 percent. Also in the ranks were Maria Isabel Marfil and Marc Leuvill Villaverde who tied at the ninth spot with 89.67 percent. Ending the topnotchers list are Louize Allaine Areño and Christine Mae De Leon who both placed 10th, scoring 89.33 percent. The University of Santo Tomas was the third top-performing school with a higher passing rate of 91.99 percent, or 333 passers out of 362 examinees, as compared with last year's 90.72 percent, or 352 passers out of 388 examinees, data from the Professional Regulation Commission website showed. The University of the Philippines-Diliman was once again named top-performing school, garnering a passing rate of 100 percent with all 69 examinees passing. The De La Salle University-Manila followed in second with a rate of 92.66 percent, or 101 out of 109 examinees passing. The national passing rate slipped to 30.45 percent, with a total of 4,511 passers out 14,813 examinees, from last year's record of 36.48 percent, or 5,249 passers out of 14,390 examinees.
