The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws secured the fourth seed in the Final four of the Season 80 of the UAAP Men’s Basketball tournament after they thrashed the Adamson University (AdU) Falcons, 71-54, at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.
The Tamaraws pulled away in the second half by playing ferocious defense and limiting the Falcons to just 22 points while scoring 36.
Prince Orizu delivered eight points in the payoff period after just scoring two in the first three quarters.
Adamson rising star Jerrick Ahanmisi played only six minutes in the game after suffering from a sprained ankle. Jerie Pingoy also went down with a sprained ankle in the five-minute mark of the final period.
The Morayta-based squad outrebounded the Falcons, 48-38. AdU’s starter points of 22 was also a flop against the 35 of FEU.
Arvin Tolentino led the Tamaraws with 14 markers and five caroms while Richard Escoto contributed 11 points and eight rebounds and they outscored the Falcons by 23 points when he was on the floor.
Robbie Manalang had 15 markers for Adamson. Papi Sarr followed with 10 points and seven boards.
With the W, FEU officially entered the Final Four, their fifth straight, a UAAP record. The loss had no bearing for Adamson as they stay put as the third seed. DARLAIGNE SUPSUPIN
