UST still top-performing school in September 2017 LET exams


The University of Santo Tomas (UST) is once again named the top-performing school in the elementary education level of the recent licensure examinations for teachers, the results of which were announced on Monday.

UST registered a passing rate of 93.81 percent or 106 passers out of 113 examinees, slipping from its previous record of 97.79 percent last year or 133 passers out of 136 examinees.

No Thomasians made the cut in the top 10 list of passers for the elementary education level.

This year’s overall performance for the elementary education level lowered to 26.33 percent or 21,198 passers out of 80,509 examinees, from last year’s 30.18 percent or 23,378 passers out of 77,462 examinees.

UST also emerged as second in the list of top-performing schools for the secondary education level with a score of 94.74 percent or 162 passers out of 171 examinees, ranking two places higher from the previous year and improving its passing rate of 87.29 percent or 158 out of 181 examinees.

Still, no Thomasians were included in the list of topnotchers for the secondary education level.

The University of the Philippines Los Baños was named the top-performing school with a passing rate of 98.33 percent or 59 out of 60 examinees, while the Philippine Normal University in Manila once again claimed the third spot with a record of 94.44 percent, or 577 out of 611 examinees.

The national passing rate for the secondary education level rose to 46.37 percent, with 49,626 passers out of 107,020 examinees, from last year’s passing rate of 33.78 percent or 31,334 passers out of 92,754 examinees.
